For the 18th year, everyone can enjoy a giant indoor winter playground. The Winter WonderFest is open now through Jan. 7 at the Navy Pier. Its fun activities include an ice skating rink and a train ride.
This annual holiday tradition is impressive whether you are a ballet fan or not. The performance is presented by The Joffrey Ballet through Dec. 30.
Head to the western suburbs of the city to see this spectacular display. Light illuminates the trees in a magical display of color through Jan. 1.
CTA Holiday Train
Get your dose of holiday cheer with the CTA Holiday Train, decked out in lights and with an open train car featuring Santa’s sleigh. The train is so popular and the CTA doesn’t want anyone to miss out, so trailing the main train is an elf train loaded with holiday decorations and Santa’s helpers.
Cloud Gate Caroling
Visit The Bean on any Friday night until Dec. 19 to listen to some amazing music from a variety of local choirs. Each performance usually includes an audience sing-along.
Do a little window shopping along State Street and walk past Macy’s. Each window is filled with a nostalgic holiday scenes to get you in the holiday spirit.
Ice Skating at Millennium Park
From mid-November through mid-March, families can enjoy free ice skating at the McCormick Tribune Ice Rink. Don’t have your own skates? You can rent them on-site.
